A well-stocked corner store carries those miscellaneous items nearby residents come for in the late hours before closing—milk for tomorrow’s coffee, the coffee itself, popcorn or ice cream for tonight.
Seven Market is stocked with goods from local producers—dairy from Smithfield Farms and ice cream from Seattle’s Full Tilt. Plus shelves of the really important items—Tim’s chips and artisan salsas, Theo’s Chocolate, Annie’s Mac and cheese, local ciders and ales and wines.
But I came back for the homemade pop tart, or Top Tart, as Ravenna’s Sod House Bakery has dubbed this treat that looks like the beloved toaster pastry, but ups the flakiness quotient to a delicious degree. Mine came warm and flaky, with strawberry filling, and I enjoyed it alongside a delectable Seven Roasters latte, served in a warm mug and adorned with lovely foam art.
